An established and expanding Hematology/Oncology group in Central California is seeking a compassionate, board-certified or board-eligible physician to join their team. This region has long been designated a healthcare shortage area, and with only two part-time medical oncologists currently on staff, the need is urgent. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a high-demand community where your work will make a significant impact while offering stability, autonomy, and balance.
This is a fully outpatient position with no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities. Physicians can choose a standard Monday through Friday schedule (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) or a flexible four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts. The practice averages 3–4 new consults per day and cares for roughly 100 chemotherapy patients weekly, the majority of whom are follow-ups. Patient volume is expected to be a minimum of 20 per day, with bonus potential for exceeding that. The case mix is approximately 65–70% hematology and the remainder oncology. On-site services include chemotherapy mixing and radiation therapy, with off-site labs and imaging available nearby. Physicians are supported by strong staff resources and efficient tools such as Dragon dictation, allowing them to focus more time on patient care.
Compensation has recently been increased, making this an attractive opportunity for both new fellows and experienced oncologists:
- Base Salary: Up to $525,000 (recently increased)
- Sign-On Bonus: $200,000 with a 2-year commitment
- Relocation Assistance: $25,000
- Production Bonus: Negotiable, open for discussion
- Partnership Track: 2-year path with a third-party valuation after year one and flexible buy-in options
Additional benefits include four weeks of paid time off, one week of CME with a $5,000 allowance, comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage (with physician premiums fully covered and family eligible), malpractice insurance with tail coverage, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% match after the first year.
The practice is ideal for a physician who values independence and collaboration. It is a financially stable private group with a respected reputation, offering the freedom to practice without hospital politics or red tape. Physicians have administrative autonomy, robust clinical support, and the chance to shape their career in a setting that emphasizes personalized care and long-term growth.
